Special Message from American Promise

This week has been a hard one for Americans.

The police shootings of Philando Castile in Minnesota and Alton Sterling in Louisiana shockingly remind us of how much work we need to do to overcome racism in our nation. The premeditated sniper attack on Dallas police officers hours later hit us with another shock.

We pray for the victims of this violence, for an end to racism and division, and for peace and healing now.

In our vision of human liberty, equal citizens, and responsible self-government in America, racism has no place. Shooting and violence against our fellow Americans has no place.

The events of this week sadden and anger all of us at American Promise. And they make us more committed and determined than ever to work on the urgent task ofcoming together to fulfill this vision of a free, equal people, living and governing ourselves -- together.
